Altar Servers

MEMBERS: Any person who has made their First Communion.

DESCRIPTION: Members serve at Mass and special occasions. Parents or other adults are needed to assist in training and scheduling. Adult servers assist at funerals and other special occasions.

Baptismal Preparation

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members work with parents who are preparing to baptize a child.

Bereavement

MEMBERS: Any interested person in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members are trained in bereavement ministry and serve members of our parish in their time of loss.

Catholic Charities

MEMBERS: Any interested person.

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers reach out to the needy of the Pee Dee area by volunteering their time with this program.

Child Development Center Volunteers

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members share their time and talent with our Child Development Center as volunteers through reading, arts and crafts, or just visiting with the children.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

MEMBERS: Any adult or youth who enjoys children and God's Word.

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers present the readings each week to children from the Children's Lectionary and relate the stories to their everyday lives.

SESSIONS : Sunday mornings at 9:30AM Mass during the Liturgy of the Word.

Children's Religious Education

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish, training provided.

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers teach, assist other teachers, and help coordinate programs for the Christian formation of children and youth from September through May.

MEETINGS: Classes meet Sundays from 10:45AM to12:00PM, September to May. Occasional teacher meetings or planning sessions are necessary.

Churches Assisting People

MEMBERS: Any interested adult.

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers participate in an inter-faith agency that assists families in need on a one time basis. Volunteers are needed to help distribute food and interview clients.

Coastal Carolina Catholics

MEMBERS: Any Coastal Carolina University student.

DESCRIPTION: Students are invited to join this university group which celebrates Mass each Sunday at 5:30pm ( while classes are in session ) in Lackey Chapel. They also have special activities throughout the year on Monday evenings.

MEETINGS: Celebrate Mass each Sunday at 5:30pm according to school calendar and join them for various activities on Monday evenings.

Columbarium Commitee

MEMBERS: Any Parishioner who has simply a respectful and supporting attitude to the grieving families. Any gardening and landscaping abilities are greatly appreciated, but not required.

DESCRIPTION: This committee developed the Columbarium from idea to reality. The Committee now exists to maintain the grounds around the Columbarium, to assist the inurnment of the parishioners' cremains, and to finish the development of phase two - The Prayer Garden.

MEETINGS: As needed. Usually held twice a year. Many informal discussions are conducted via email.

Disaster Response Team

MEMBERS: Any interested person.

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers assist in times of pending disaster and educate the parish to handle the disaster.

English for Speakers of Other Languages

MEMBERS: Anyone interested in teaching or tutoring students in English as their second language.

DESCRIPTION: Members teach in a one-on-one situation with the student in a mutually agreed upon place and time. Training is provided.

Eucharistic Adoration

MEMBERS: Any interested person.

DESCRIPTION: Join us on Mondays for our Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel.

Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist

MEMBERS: Any person who has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation and is at least 16 years old.

DESCRIPTION: Members assist in the distribution of the Eucharist at Masses and/or to the sick and homebound.

Funeral Ministry

DESCRIPTION: Members assist clergy and family members with preparing the funeral services, music, etc.

Funeral Receptions

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers provide hospitality to bereaved family and friends upon request.

DESCRIPTION: We offer a friendly, smiling face as parishioners enter for Mass. No experience necessary.

Grounds Ministry

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members assist in the maintenance of our grounds both present and future. They coordinate the skills of volunteers, schedule projects.

Hooks and Needles

MEMBERS: Any person who loves sewing, knitting,crocheting, or quilting.

DESCRIPTION: The Hooks and Needles ministry is a group comprised of knitters, crocheters, and quilters who get together to socialize while their hands are busy making prayer shawls, afghans, quilts, and hats, scarves and socks for the less fortunate in our community. All projects are donated to local charitable organizations.

MEETINGS: We gather on the Third Wednesday of each month in the Founder Center from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. We also gather on second Thursdays from 1pm to 3:00pm.

Hospitality - Sunday Morning

MEMBERS: Any interested member or family in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members set up for the coffee hour on Sunday mornings from 8:15 - 10:15AM. Coffee and donuts are provided.

Knight Of Columbus

MEMBERS: Any interested practicing Catholic man over age 17.

DESCRIPTION: Members participate in a local council of an international organization for Catholic men which supports parish activities and the community, in addition to spreading Catholicism.

MEETINGS: Knights meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:30PM.

Knights Of Columbus - 4th Degree

MEMBERS: Any Knight who has received the Third Degree can become a Fourth Degree.

DESCRIPTION: Patriotic arm of the Knights of Columbus participating in community events and providing ceremonial support to liturgies.

Ladies Guild

MEMBERS: Any interested woman in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members participate in a women's organization affiliated with the National Council of Catholic Women. All women are invited to become involved in social, religious and other activities.

DESCRIPTION: Members assist during liturgy by proclaiming God's Word.

Liturgy Committee

MEMBERS: Any interested members of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members help to plan and organize liturgies as well as participate in special services.

Marriage Preparation

MEMBERS: Any interested adult in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members assist pastor in preparing couples one-on-one for Christian marriage, wedding preparation, etc.

Mission St. James

MEMBERS: Any interested members of the Parish

DESCRIPTION: Bi-annual mission trip of approximately 20 people to Honduras. We work with the Olancho Aid Foundation of Juticalpa to complete an agreed-upon project, usually associated with the physical improvement of a school in a very poor rural area.

MEETINGS: Monthly during the year preceding the mission trip.

Music Ministry (Cantor and Choir)

MEMBERS: Any interested youth or adult in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members plan music for liturgies, sing in a choir, cantor, or play an instrument.

MEETINGS: Choir rehearsals are held Thursday evenings at 7:30pm.

Office Volunteers

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members work in our parish office each week with basic office duties. They commit 3 hours, one day a week,
9:30AM - 12:30PM or 12:30PM - 3:30PM. Substitutes are always needed as well.

Parish Newsletter

MEMBERS: Any interested parishioners.

DESCRIPTION: Members plan, write and edit articles and prepare the newsletter for mailing. Any parishioner may submit short biographies, poetry, book reviews or other articles of general interest.

Parish Nurse Program

MEMBERS: Any interested member or family in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Parish Nurse/Congregational Health Ministry working through the church to meet the health care needs of the congregation. Monthly blood pressure screenings, healing advocate, personal health counselors, health education, referral sources, hospital and home visitation, listeners and prayer partners.

Parish Picnic Committee

MEMBERS: Any interested person.

DESCRIPTION: Members help to plan and organize our annual parish picnic held in May.

Parish Religious Goods Shop

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members organize the sale of religious articles and books.

MEETINGS: Volunteer to sell goods after a Mass.

Pastoral Visitors

MEMBERS: Any interested member or family in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members visit the sick in hospitals, nursing homes, and also those homebound.

MEETINGS: They meet once a month for updating information and discussion.

Prayer Chain

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: A telephone chain of people willing to pray at home for any person requesting prayers. Members make one phone call to pass along the prayer request and then add the requested intention to their personal prayer list.

Prison Ministry

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members minister to prisoners, their families and victims of crime. Bible studies are held in our local Detention Center and occasional prayer vigils are also held. We have a Pen Pal Program as well.

Pro-Life

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Participate in activities that respect life from conception to natural death.

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)

WHO CAN JOIN: Any person who would like to know more about the Catholic Faith or who would like to join the Catholic Church. Children age 7 through adults are part of the program.

DESCRIPTION: Candidates study the Catholic Faith and team members help prepare candidates for Sacramental Initiation.

MEETINGS: Every Thursday night from 7:00PM - 9:00PM. Also, participation in Sunday Mass and group study during Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Rosary Making

WHO CAN JOIN: Any interested person.

DESCRIPTION: We make rosaries to donate to various organizations and persons who would not otherwise have rosaries.

Shepherd's Table

DESCRIPTION: Volunteer to prepare or serve food to 100 people at Shepherd's Table in Conway.

Small Faith Sharing Communities

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members meet each week to read and understand God's Word and share its application in relation to their everyday lives.

MEETINGS: Over twelve groups meet at various times during the week. We have both morning and evening groups, weekdays and weekends.

Street Reach

DESCRIPTION: A group will prepare and serve food to 100 people at Street Reach Ministry in Myrtle Beach.

Top Of The Hill Gang

MEMBERS: Senior Citizens of the parish (but not limited thereto) from ages 50 to 150.

DESCRIPTION: The Top of the Hill Gang is a social group which meets in the parish hall during daylight hours for talk, games, refreshments and other activities.

MEETINGS: Second & fourth Wednesday of the month, 10AM -2PM.

Traveling Chalice

MEMBERS: Any interested youth or adult.

DESCRIPTION: This ministry is one of prayer for Vocations. The chalice is moved from home to home each week and vocations are prayed for during that week.

Ushers

MEMBERS: Any interested youth or adult in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members greet worshipers, seat them and coordinate the offertory.

Volunteers - Trades / Skills

DESCRIPTION: Share your time and talent with our parish. Do you have any special skills you could share such as: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical Work, Landscaping, Painting, Calligraphy, Financial Skills, Fund Raising Skills, Etc. Also, monitor our Stewardship Board in the main hallway for specific tasks.

Welcoming Committee

MEMBERS: Any interested youth, adult or family in the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members represent the parish in welcoming new parishioners and helping them in the transition to the Conway area. Members provide welcome packets to all new parishioners and conduct a monthly in-church registration on Sundays.

Worship Environment

MEMBERS: Any interested member of the parish.

DESCRIPTION: Members prepare and maintain the worship environment by washing altar linens, vestments and purificators, and by decorating the church according to the liturgical seasons.

Youth Group - Middle or High School

MEMBERS: Any interested Middle School or High School Students.

DESCRIPTION: Students gather to socialize, grow spiritually and build their character. The group has many outings, service projects and lock-ins. Volunteers to be youth leaders and chaperones are also needed.

MEETINGS: High School age meets every Sunday from 10:45AM to 12:00PM, September to May. Middle School TBA.
